Don’t shoot me!!!!!  Seriously, I thought I would be back here every week to post new reviews and new drinks but I let you down….I didn’t take my blogging seriously.  Oh whatever, here I am and that’s what matters.  I have so many drinks to talk about, that if I did one a week I would be 98 when I finished.

Ok, first up.  Travelling to London in May 2014 and I had a layover at the Chicago airport.  Sat at a bar and ordered a couple local beers, which were great but the gal sitting next to me had a drink that looked yummy.  But what kind of martini was it?  So I asked….”it’s a margarita”  she replied.  No Way!!! shaken, not stirred margarita???  So I struck up a conversation with the bar keep and he was like “yep….best in the world”  OH he shouldn’t have said that!!!!  I’m always up for THAT challenge!!  2 please, because….just because.  Honestly, it was margarita meets martini and kicks it’s A$$.  The flavor was so intense that a sip was just right.  It had the lime, tequila and sour mix flavor all perfected into one little sip….not a slurp through a straw, which is OK too.  Let’s give credit where credit is due…..Frontera.  If you’re ever in Chicago’s airport…DO IT!!!

So I love Pina Colada’s.  It’s the fruity little coco-nutty drink that makes you think of swimming pools, or dance clubs, or beaches or Rupert Holmes.. “If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain…”  BUT they are a bazillion calories!!!  All that cream, and pineapple and coconut and alcohol…mmmm, but they can weigh in at 800 – 1100 calories each! YIKES  I allow myself ONE on vacation.  That was until this past February when I was in San Juan.  We had hiked up to the fort and was walking back down in town when I happened upon a sign which read ‘The house where in 1963 the first Pina Colada was created’  WHAT?? really??? I’ve been to this city 5 times and I’m just finding this out?? So I went in.  This Pina Colada is unlike any other as they do not use ice.  How does it get so thick and creamy you ask??  I have no idea, but let me tell you, not only did I have 2 drinks sitting at the bar, I ordered one for the road!!!  It was The Best Pina Colada In The World!!!  I have to search no further for that title because it has been found.  Barachina restaurant.  If you ever get to San Juan, don’t leave without trying one.

Banana drinks.  Not my favorite.  I love bananas, but there is something about them in drinks that to me, alter the taste and they end up tasting not so much like banana but the smell of a zoo.  HOWEVER my friends, at the top of a mountain in St. Thomas USVI, you will find the perfect banana daiquiri.  The fact that they charge a little more than they should because they give you the hokey plastic glass, is ok, because the drink by far makes up for it.  It’s refreshing, it’s full of flavor and alcohol, and I think it’s the most addictive thing I’ve ever tried because I’ve booked 2 more trips to St. Thomas so I can get that damn banana daiquiri!  If you are ever lucky enough to visit this beautiful island by cruise ship or air, please take a hike (not really, hop a cab or call Sunny Liston) and let your taste buds enjoy the best banana drink anywhere.  The view out back is beautiful and you can see several other islands as well as Magens Bay, one of the top beaches in the world.

Well, until the mood strikes again, drink well, but not a well drink.
